Disc Dog Classes

Disc Dog Level 1

Disc Dog Level 1 is a four-week introductory disc dog class, offered in a fenced outdoor ring at the COKC site.  In this class, you will learn how to throw safely for your dog and how to get ready for competition.  An approved, dog-safe disc is required and is available for purchase for $5.00.

Disc dog training, like disc dog trials, is stopped in the event of thunder or lightning but continues after the storm passes.  However, training and trials are not stopped for wind or rain.

Disc Dog Level 2

Prerequisite: Disc Dog Level 1 or previously having competed in disc dog competition. Students must have 3-5 discs. (Available for purchase at a cost of $5.00 per disc.)

In this class students work on a lot of throwing techniques and work with multiple discs. The basics of disc freestyle are covered, and students learn about building routines. Basics include: working with multiple discs, over the body catches, under the body catches, tricks, cross overs, vaults, flips, new and different throws, and teaching the dog to drop the disc consistently and on demand. This class is about improving your disc game and having a chance to practice routines and have fun with other disc doggers!
